The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Asia is the Elections & Appointments chair and sophomore senator in the Florida A&M University's 37th Student Senate. She values equality and moral justice for everyone and feels it is her responsibility to take a stand on the social issues affecting her community. Asia's goal is to develop a concrete plan to address the concerns and needs of her community and provide more avenues for students to interact with community programming. She hopes to ensure that students are continuously serving their community and being an inspiration to tomorrow's leaders.
