The gentrification of the Mission District brought a "gang list" that affected young people in a 60-block radius, limiting their freedom of movement and association. Vicente Garcia used his 2007 Young People For fellowship to organize the community to stop the gang list.

Vincent formerly served as the director of student lobbying and special assistant to the president and vice president for the FAMU Student Government Association. Vincent is a proud member of the Student National Alumni Association, FAMU Chapter of NAACP, and Student Coalition for Justice. Vincent is also State of Florida National College Crime Watch Representative. Since his arrival on "The Hill," he's served in several leadership capacities and remained committed to community service. He says, "There is no place like FAMU. I truly bleed the orange and green. FAMU Today, FAMU Tomorrow, FAMU Forever!"
